Roadmap 2.0 Mission
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), have joined together to develop and implement Chicago Roadmap 2.0. Building on the success of the Chicago Roadmap—a transfer partnership between CPS and the CCC launched 5 years ago—UIC is now collaborating with CPS and CCC to expand the initiative into Chicago Roadmap 2.0. This collaboration aims to establish seamless transfer pathways from CPS to CCC to UIC with the primary goal of eliminating credit loss during transfer and improving access, affordability, and timely bachelor’s degree completion. The project will also support CPS students with college credentials interested in pursuing their bachelor’s degree at UIC.
Intending to broaden access and increase participation in high-value & high-interest baccalaureate degree programs, Chicago Roadmap 2.0 will support students through bachelor’s degree completion with an emphasis on students from groups furthest from opportunity, while addressing one of the greatest inequities in higher education: transfer student success.
At its core, Chicago Roadmap 2.0 eliminates unnecessary barriers between institutions, aligns academic programs and credits, and offers comprehensive support so that students do not just start college – they finish it. Chicago Roadmap 2.0 delivers:
- Guaranteed transfer admission programs between CCC and UIC, so students have clarity and confidence in their educational journey.
- Development of effective transfer pathways with zero credit loss, eliminating frustration and financial strain from unnecessarily repeating coursework.
- Coordinated academic advising and student support across CPS, CCC, and UIC – providing continuity and tailored guidance at every step.
- Enhanced resources for transfer students – including tutoring, mentoring, career guidance and experiential learning opportunities – so they persist and graduate on time.
- And development of a game-changing, innovative AI-powered degree planning portal – an interactive tool that gives students and families real-time, personalized guidance on how their credits will apply to a bachelor’s degree.
We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed in college, regardless of where they begin.
